Sao Feng mistakes Elizabeth for Calypso in Pirates of the Caribbean because he believes that she is the key to controlling the sea goddess. He is aware of the legend that Calypso can take on human form, and when he sees Elizabeth wearing the dress of a sea goddess, he assumes that she is Calypso. Additionally, Elizabeth's actions and behavior during their encounter further convince Sao Feng that she is the powerful sea goddess. This misunderstanding leads to a series of events that ultimately impact the outcome of the story. **
